I love blueberries and I drink blueberry juice every morning for breakfast. I drink it in-between meals too when I feel like I’m hungry. I love how it tastes and I love that it’s packed full of antioxidants that help fight free radicals that can cause cancer.

What is blueberry juice and what does it do?

In the cold winter months when most fruits are scarce you can stock up on fresh blueberries by visiting local farmer markets or even just go pick them in your garden. They are low in calories, high in nutrients, low in sugar, and have a low glycemic index.

Blueberries are loaded with anthocyanins which help to reduce the risk for heart disease, boost the immune system, and may even prevent cancer! They are a great addition to smoothies, oatmeal, oatmeal raisin cookies, Greek yogurt, soups, and also great in juice and smoothies.

Aside from the anthocyanins, blueberries are high in fiber, vitamin C, and vitamin E and are low in sugar. When should I drink blueberry juice? You should drink it every day.

Typically, products with claims are labeled ‘very low’ or ‘much less about their alcohol content.

How to avoid side effects of blueberry juice

For a long time, I was having really bad headaches when I was drinking blueberry juice. I also had really bad gas that would come in waves and go away after I was done drinking the juice. So, I did a little research and found out that there are 2 common side effects of drinking blueberry juice every day:

  • Headaches
  • Heartburn

Both of these side effects are directly related to the bacteria in your stomach called Helicobacter pylori. H. pylori do not harm your body, but it is believed that the number of bacteria in your stomach can cause or cause some of the symptoms I was having. I’ve done some research on the effects of Helicobacter pylori on your body and I found that some studies have shown that most people have more H.

Conclusion

Blueberry juice is incredibly good for your skin. It contains phytochemicals that kill acne-causing bacteria, boost your immune system and reduce inflammation. A 2014 study found that every week blueberry juice could reduce the rate of cervical cancer by about 20 percent, and also said that it helped cure acne. If you’re looking to start your day on a health and beauty high, I recommend that you give it a try.

What is Blueberry Juice?

Blueberries are my favorite fruit, and there’s nothing better than picking your own at a local farm and drinking it fresh. A can of blueberries is only 80 calories and high in vitamins A, C, and E. They’re also loaded with fiber, potassium, manganese, and other minerals. Blueberries also contain ellagic acid and anthocyanins that help prevent cancer. And they’re packed with antioxidants, which help to reduce inflammation.

“When we drink blueberry juice, we absorb four times more of these powerful antioxidants than if we eat them raw,” says Dr. Christine Goertz, medical director of the National Physicians Alliance. How Does Blueberry Juice Work to Fight Cancer? “You can think of blueberries as a powerful medicine for fighting cancer,” explains Goertz.

Antioxidant Properties

Blueberries are rich in antioxidants, which help slow down the process of aging, improve eye health and clear up chronic skin conditions such as acne, rosacea, and eczema. Coffee and blueberries both provide antioxidants. Many people do not like the taste of coffee. I usually drink coffee with cream, but I prefer my coffee with no sugar and with a splash of cinnamon.

A dash of lemon is also a nice treat. Concerning the lack of sweetness, cinnamon helps cut the sweetness. The taste of cinnamon mixed with coffee or orange juice gives a nice kick. I like to add milk to my coffee and mix my spoon into it. A few tablespoons of almond milk gives it more flavor than plain milk and gives you extra calcium. Studies show that the richest source of anthocyanins comes from blueberries.

The Health Benefits of Blueberry Juice

  2.  Helps To Lose Weight – Blueberry juice is also helpful in making you feel full after a meal.
  3.  Tones Your Muscles – By drinking blueberry juice, it helps to tone your muscles.
  4.  Supports The Body’s Immune System – This is by giving the body the vitamins and minerals that it needs to stay healthy.
  5.  Helps To Boost Energy – Blueberry juice is also great for boosting your energy after a hard workout.
  6.  Helps To Heal wounds – Dehydrated wounds are even more susceptible to infection. Blueberry juice can help rehydrate the wounds to keep them from getting infected.

Conclusion and Tips

On average, a glass of blueberry juice has 115 calories and 9 grams of sugar. The juice itself has 0 grams of sugar and the 9 grams of sugar comes from the added sugar in the milk. That’s a big difference, it’s 3/4 of your daily sugar in less than half a cup of juice. It seems like a lot but that amount is really easy to adjust for and it’s really easy to cut the juice with stevia or other sweeteners.

You really can’t taste the juice itself and you can drink it all in one go. I drink my blueberry juice with breakfast, and I drink it with lunch as well. This is my way of monitoring what I’m eating for the rest of the day. Takeaway Blueberries contain as much vitamin C as a whole orange and as much as an orange. If you eat 1 orange you get around 75% of your daily vitamin C.
